How to copy trades between MT5 accounts on different brokers
Trade once in a master MetaTrader 5 account and have every other account follow, even when they are at different brokers or prop firms, without an EA or a VPS.
How do I copy trades from one MT5 account to another?
Connect both accounts to a cloud trade copier such as AlgoDeltaFX with their MT5 login, password and server, make one the master and the others child accounts, and give each child a lot rule (multiplier, fixed lot or balance-based). Every trade the master opens, modifies or closes is then copied to the children in real time. The accounts can be at different brokers, and no EA, terminal or VPS has to stay running.

Step by step
Set up MT5 copy trading in 6 steps
-
1
Create your free AlgoDeltaFX account
Sign up for the 1-week free demo. There is nothing to install: the copier runs in the cloud.
-
2
Connect the master MT5 account
Add the account you trade from with its MT5 login, trading password and broker server name (for example Exness-MT5Real29).
-
3
Connect each child MT5 account
Add the accounts that should follow. They can be at any broker or prop firm that offers MT5.
-
4
Create a copy group
Pick the master and the child accounts. One master can copy to unlimited child accounts and groups.
-
5
Set a lot rule for every child
Choose a multiplier, a fixed lot or balance-based sizing, separately for each child account.
-
6
Place a small test trade
Open a minimum-lot trade on the master from MT5 desktop, mobile or web, then check that every child opened, modified and closed it.
Lot sizing
Multiplier vs fixed lot vs balance-based
Each child account has its own rule, so a small account and a large one can follow the same master safely.
| Rule | How the child lot is set | Master trades 1.00 lot → child gets | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Multiplier 0.5x | Master lot × multiplier | 0.50 lot | Accounts with a fixed size relationship |
| Fixed lot 0.10 | Always the same lot | 0.10 lot | Capping risk on small accounts |
| Balance-based | Scaled to the child's balance vs the master's | 0.25 lot if the child has a quarter of the master's balance | Accounts of different sizes that change over time |
What gets copied
- New trades opened on the master, from MT5 desktop, mobile, web or an EA running on the master.
- Stop loss and take profit, including later changes to SL/TP on the master.
- Closes, so child positions exit when the master exits.
Common problems and how to avoid them
- Different symbol names. One broker shows
EURUSD, anotherEURUSDmorEURUSD.r. AlgoDeltaFX maps symbols for each account. - Lot too small. A multiplier can produce a lot below the broker minimum (often 0.01). Use a fixed lot or balance-based sizing for small accounts.
- Not enough margin. A child order is rejected if the account lacks free margin. Keep leverage and balance in mind when setting the rule.
- Wrong server name. Copy the exact server from your broker's welcome email or the MT5 login window.
- Need to stop one account. Use the child's own trading switch to pause it without touching the group.
Cloud copier vs EA copier
An EA-based copier runs inside MT5 terminals on your PC or a VPS, which must stay on 24/7, and usually only copies between terminals on the same machine. A cloud copier connects to each account directly, so it keeps working when your computer is off and can mix brokers freely. See the full comparison of trade copiers.

FAQ
Questions about copying MT5 trades
Can I copy trades between MT5 accounts without an EA?
Yes. A cloud copier like AlgoDeltaFX connects to each MT5 account with its login, password and server, so there is no Expert Advisor to install and no terminal or VPS to keep running.
Do the master and child accounts need the same currency or leverage?
No. Each child account trades with its own balance, currency and leverage. Use balance-based sizing or a multiplier so the lot size fits each account.
What happens if a child account has a different symbol name, like EURUSDm?
Brokers often add suffixes such as m, .r or .pro. AlgoDeltaFX maps symbols per account, and its symbol search shows the exact name each broker uses.
Is my money safe when I copy trades?
Your funds stay with your broker. AlgoDeltaFX only places and manages trades on the accounts you connect; it cannot withdraw money. Trading still carries risk of loss.
