Prop firm copy trading on MT5: sizing, drawdown & rules
Run one strategy across several funded or challenge accounts without placing every trade by hand, while each account keeps its own size and risk.
Can I copy trades across prop firm accounts?
Yes, if your prop firm issues MT5 accounts and its rules allow it. Connect the accounts to a cloud copier such as AlgoDeltaFX, make one the master, and give each funded account balance-based sizing or its own multiplier so every account risks the same share of its balance. Many firms allow copying between your own accounts but ban copying other people or sharing accounts, so always check your firm's current rules first.

What prop firms usually look at
Every firm writes its own rules, and they change. These are the points to look for in your firm's terms before you copy trades:
- Copy trading and trade copiers: whether copying is allowed at all, and whether only between your own accounts.
- Third-party signals: many firms ban copying another trader's account or a signal service.
- Account and IP sharing: accounts are usually personal; trading someone else's account is often banned.
- Maximum allocation: limits on how much capital one person can trade with the same strategy.
- Loss limits: daily and overall drawdown rules that end the account if broken.
AlgoDeltaFX is software: it copies what you trade, it does not decide what is allowed. If in doubt, ask your firm's support before you connect.
Lot sizing
Same risk on every account size
With a 100k master trading 1.00 lot, balance-based sizing gives each account the same risk relative to its balance.
| Account | Balance | Rule | Lot when master trades 1.00 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Master | 100,000 | – | 1.00 |
| Funded account A | 50,000 | Balance-based (or 0.5x) | 0.50 |
| Funded account B | 25,000 | Balance-based (or 0.25x) | 0.25 |
| Challenge account C | 10,000 | Balance-based (or 0.1x) | 0.10 |
Step by step
Set up prop firm copy trading in 5 steps
-
1
Read each firm's rules
Check what your firm says about copy trading, EAs, trade copiers and trading the same strategy on several accounts.
-
2
Connect your accounts
Add your personal or main account as the master and each MT5 funded or challenge account as a child.
-
3
Size each account
Use balance-based sizing, or a multiplier per account, so every account risks the same share of its balance.
-
4
Test on the smallest account
Copy a minimum-lot trade and confirm the lot, SL and TP on every account.
-
5
Watch drawdown and pause when needed
If one account nears its daily or overall loss limit, switch that child off without stopping the rest.
Managing drawdown across accounts
- Always use a stop loss on the master. SL and TP, and later changes to them, are copied to every account.
- Size for the strictest account. If one firm has a tighter daily loss limit, give that account a smaller multiplier.
- Pause, don't delete. Each child account has its own trading switch, so you can stop one account near its limit and keep the others running.
- Expect small differences. Spreads, commissions and fill prices differ between firms, so results will not match to the cent.

FAQ
Questions about prop firm copy trading
Is copy trading allowed by prop firms?
It depends on the firm. Many allow copying your own trades between your own accounts but ban copying other traders or sharing accounts. Always read your firm's current rules first.
How do I size trades for funded accounts of different sizes?
Use balance-based sizing so each account trades in proportion to its balance, or set a multiplier per account, for example 0.5x for a 50k account copying a 100k master.
Can I stop copying to one funded account near its drawdown limit?
Yes. Each child account has its own trading switch in AlgoDeltaFX, so you can pause one account without stopping the others.
